NIA Covid-19 Protocol Update
Dear Newman Academy Parents, Governor Greg Abbott earlier this week issued an Executive Order (GA-34) lifting the mask mandate in Texas and increasing capacity of all businesses and facilities in the State to 100 percent starting Wednesday, March 10th. In lifting the mandate the Governor stated, “COVID-19 has not disappeared, but it is clear from the recoveries, vaccinations, reduced hospitalizations, and safe practices that Texans are using that state mandates are no longer needed. Today's announcement does not abandon safe practices that Texans have mastered over the past year.” So, we understand that there is a decrease in the severity of the pandemic, and also that the task of controlling the pandemic does not rest on a state mandate anymore, but on responsible citizens like us.

Founders' Day 2021
Dear Newman Family, Thank you for another amazing Founders Day Program capturing the vision of the Founders, reinforcing the Newman commitment to the cause of a value-based education, and encouraging me and all Newman constituents to stay focused on the united effort to raise the next generation of warriors of wisdom, stature and favor. Please let all our students know how much we Founders appreciate every song, dance, performance and card. They were all wonderful and meaningful. It was a sweet surprise to see my sister Dr. Mangai, who instilled in me a passion for teaching and education, also join the program from India. Gina Camp, district fine arts coordinator, Eduardo Mataitis, media coordinator, all fine arts teachers, administrators, staff and Mrs. Sims, thank you for a great program filled with your love and commitment to the Founders and to Newman Academy. I love you much. God bless you all! Sheba

Failing Students Required For In-Person Instruction
Dear Newman Families, We have come to the end of our first semester and almost the end of the calendar year 2020! Christmas is here! Thank you for all your support and cooperation to help Newman help its students achieve their education—both through online and in-person instruction. Thanks also to all our faculty and staff for their continued commitment to our students. Based on TEA’s options for Texas school systems regarding student proficiency, we ask all online students who have failed in any subject (scored less than 70%) in the last 9 weeks’ cycle to return to in-person instruction in January 2021. This plan will help ensure excellence and prevent failure among Newman Warriors.
